Special Tactics Squadrons are specifically organized, trained and equipped to execute a myriad of Special Operations missions to enhance air operations deep in enemy territory. US Air Force Pararescuemen can switch from a traditional rescue squadron to a Special Tactics unit without an additional assessment, however, they are required to do additional ST specific training before going to their assigned unit.
